Touchscreen Prompting

Many apps for children use visual and audio cues to try to prompt users to interact with the app correctly. But children do not always interpret these nudges the way designers expect. I study children's responses to touchscreen prompts and design techniques to make it easy for preschoolers to figure out how to use an app in the way it was designed. My past and current collaborators in this line of research include Kiley Sobel, Ray Hong, Hyewon Suh, India Irish, Chris Peloquin,  Daniella Kim, and Julie Kientz.
